Energy Works Certificate
“Energy Works Certificate” is a broad term insurers and councils use for electrical documentation rather than a single certificate — the specific certificate you need depends on your installation and the work completed. We help you determine the correct paperwork quickly, whether you’re dealing with an insurer, undergoing renovations or getting work signed off.
Electrical Warrant of Fitness
Some buildings and vehicles require an Electrical Warrant of Fitness — caravans, food trucks, portable structures and certain commercial setups. We inspect outlets, safety devices, wiring and overall condition, then issue the updated WOF once everything meets the required standard.
Certificate of Compliance
Issued whenever general risk electrical work is completed — new wiring, mains work, switchboard upgrades, additions or renovations — confirming the work meets Auckland safety regulations and was completed by a licensed professional. Most new electrical installations require one.
Electrical Safety Certificate
Confirms newly installed or modified electrical work has been tested, connected and verified as safe to use — commonly issued for low-risk work such as maintenance, replacements and basic repairs. The ESC must be issued within 20 days of connection.
Certificate of Verification
Used when an existing installation needs checking before reconnection or acceptance by insurers — for example, when no previous documentation exists, an insurer asks for proof of condition, the installation has been disconnected for more than six months, or there are concerns about age, damage or unsafe DIY work. We follow the AS/NZS 3019 standard to assess and confirm compliance — especially valuable for older homes, rural buildings and properties with an uncertain electrical history.
Record of Inspection
Required for high-risk electrical work such as mains supply work, overhead service lines, solar installations and parallel generation systems, inspected by an independent electrical inspector. We issue the Certificate of Compliance for the work, and the inspector issues the Record of Inspection once confirmed safe and correct — both are needed for high-risk work to be fully certified, with the inspection details recorded in Energy Safety’s high-risk database.
Thermal Imaging Inspection
One of the most accurate ways to detect electrical faults before they become hazards — our thermal cameras identify heat signatures indicating loose connections, overloaded circuits or failing components. Ideal for preventive maintenance, insurance assessments and safety checks. You receive a detailed report with images and recommendations.
