A properly installed wall charger is the single best upgrade you can make to EV life — faster, safer and far kinder to your power bill than trickle-charging from a standard socket. Legacy Electrical installs EV chargers right across Auckland. Every install is done by Registered Master Electricians, wired to New Zealand standards with the correct protection, tested, and signed off with a Certificate of Compliance — and backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee.
Bring your own charger, or have us supply and install one — either way, we’ll make it tidy. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote based on your specific site.
Every install includes
- Site assessment — we check your switchboard, cable route and charging spot before quoting.
- Correct protection — the right RCD/RCBO protection for EV charging, wired to New Zealand standards.
- Tidy cable runs — cables run internally wherever possible, no ugly surface conduit unless there’s no other way.
- Testing & handover — we test the full install and show you how everything works.
- Certificate of Compliance — formal compliance paperwork issued promptly with every install.
- Lifetime workmanship guarantee — we stand behind our work on every job.
Any charger, any car
We install wall chargers for every EV on New Zealand roads. Not sure which charger suits your car, your switchboard and your budget? That’s exactly the conversation we’re good at — no pressure, plain answers.
EV charging questions, answered
Can’t I just charge from a normal power point?
You can, but slowly — a standard socket was never designed to run at full load for hours every night. A dedicated wall charger charges several times faster and is wired and protected specifically for the job.
Do I need council consent?
No building consent is needed for a standard home wall charger. What you do need is a registered electrician — EV charger installation is restricted electrical work in New Zealand, and we issue a Certificate of Compliance with every install.
How long does the install take?
Most straightforward installs are done within the day, often in a morning. Longer cable runs or switchboard work can take longer — we’ll tell you before we start.
Can you install a charger I bought myself?
Absolutely — bring your own charger and we’ll install it properly, or we can supply and install one for you.
What affects the installation price?
Mainly the distance between your switchboard and the charging spot, how the cable can be routed, and whether your switchboard needs additional protection or capacity. We confirm your exact price before any work starts.
