Alex began by conducting a thorough assessment of the existing electrical system to identify any safety hazards, code violations, or areas that needed improvement. Alex checked the wiring, earthing, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, lighting, and other components of the electrical system.  Alex then rewired the earthing system and mains cabling, and fixed the botched prewire, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and electrical standards.  The earthing system especially is critical as it ensures that the electrical current is safely discharged into the ground in case of a fault or surge. This involves installing earth wires and earth rods, testing the earth resistance, and ensuring that all the metal parts of the electrical system are properly bonded and grounded.

Alex also installed new lighting throughout the townhouses, which not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the properties but also improves their functionality and energy efficiency. This involved selecting the right types of lights, such as LED lights, and positioning them strategically to achieve the desired effects. Alex also installed dimmer switches, timers, and motion sensors to provide greater control and flexibility over the lighting.

Throughout the project, Alex adhered to all the relevant codes and standards, particularly AS/NZS 3000:2007, and the New Zealand Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010. These codes and standards ensure that the electrical work is done safely, reliably, and efficiently, and that the occupants of the buildings are protected from electrical hazards.
